This short book is an entertaining introduction to the series, with some history of the world to orient the reader and several characters to meet. It truly is a prologue in that it mostly serves to set the reader up for what looks to be a story that will intertwine magic and magical dangers with politics and societal changes. An intriguing start.

An enjoyable read with fleshed out characters and an intelligent plot. Promises well for the rest of the series. One to watch....
